Daffodil Foods is a growing dairy business based on the beautiful Llyn Peninsula, in North Wales. We are the only producer of Welsh clotted cream, which we supply in 40g individual portions. Castell Howell, Harlech Foodservice and Blas ar Fwyd distribute our Welsh clotted cream all over Wales. We also export to Hong Kong and Japan.
We like to think that we help Welsh hospitality venues, hotels, restaurants and cafes give a point of difference. Our Welsh clotted cream signposts that everything on the afternoon tea plate is from Wales. It can be served with traditional favourites like scones, Welsh cakes and bara brith making a truly Welsh afternoon tea, extra special.
During the pandemic, when we had just launched our new Welsh clotted cream, all the foodservice and catering outlets were closed. Like so many others, we made a rapid change to selling online. We started to produce our own raspberry compote in 40g portions, which has less sugar than jam and compliments the rich clotted cream beautifully. We bought in some fantastic scones, Welsh cakes and bara brith from local bakeries and designed a fresh Welsh Afternoon Tea hamper. We started to sell these from this website and they became a quick success with sales right across the UK. Our customers love that they can choose a delivery date, give us a message to print in our bespoke watercolour daffodil card and that the gift is enclosed in an attractive printed gift box complete with a hand tied ribbon. We have so many wonderful messages from the recipients of the gifts, who love that they can create an occasion at home, for birthdays and anniversaries. They are also popular for events like Mother's Day, Father's Day, Easter and St David's Day. Customers also use them instead of flowers, to celebrate a birth or new home or to let someone know they are thinking of them.

Daffodil Foods is thankful for the financial support from the European Union's Regional Development Fund and Welsh Government who supported the launch of Daffodil Foods Welsh Clotted Cream. This project has enabled collaboration with Welsh Foodservice companies, tourist venues and Welsh bakeries making it possible to supply an authentic Welsh Afternoon Tea, where all the items (including the clotted cream) are now made in Wales. Daffodil Foods has also been able to also launch a Welsh Afternoon Tea Hamper, with a Christmas variant, sold via this website and Amazon, so that Welsh bakery items and Welsh clotted cream are sold all over the UK with strong Welsh provenance.
